Optus launches data pooling for individuals and small business customers

Telecommunications company, Optus, has launched a new offer that lets users pool and share data across all of their eligible mobile broadband and mobile devices. Optus customers can share data more easily across their tablets, dongles and mobile phones by creating their own Data Pool.

Previously, data-only devices like tablets and dongles could only share data from a linked mobile plan. Now, individuals with a bevy of tablets, phones and dongles or small businesses can combine any of the latest post-paid mobile broadband or mobile plans onto the one bill and share the data from each plan into one Data Pool.

Optus mobile marketing vice-president, Ben White, said the Data Pool is great for individuals wanting the freedom to easily swap between their tablet or smartphone phone. For small businesses, he claimed sharing data from a single Data Pool means better management of mobile data to get the job done.

“We want customers to get the most out of their mobile and tablet plans. Sharing from one data pool means you only have one bill and keeping track of data usage is so much simpler. It’s a great time to be an Optus customer,” he mentioned.

Optus has also launched an offer for customers wanting to add new iPhones and iPads to existing accounts.

Existing account holders with an active 12 or 24 month mobile or mobile broadband plan can add a new iPhone or iPad (on an Optus 24 month plan) to their account and receive a $150 one off credit. If they add up to five additional iPhones or iPads on plans, they will receive a credit of up to $750.

According to Optus, this offer will be available until October 5 for both consumers and small businesses.
