Brisbane-based reseller, Resolute IT, has signed a partnership agreement with US Cloud-based security vendor Proficio.

Under the terms of the agreement, Resolute will offer security monitoring, alerting, and remediation services managed by Proficio.

The reseller specialises in the local government market, primarily in Queensland and northern NSW.

Resolute IT, managing director, Bill Osborne, said the partnership allowed the company to expand its security offerings in the space.

“It allows us to broaden our solution offerings to regional Queensland in the local government authority space. In particular it is the key next step in providing protection to these authorities and the information they have on ratepayers.”

“It’s a sophisticated capability that they haven’t seen or been able to access before."

"Given we have the right pricing model in place, we will actually see it as a step function change in the level of protection that councils can provide to ratepayers.”

"It is a big step forward for us."

Proficio Australia non executive director, Steve Terry, said the firm chose Resolute IT because they brought a very powerful and strategic presence in the local government market across Australia.

He also said the firm was in discussion with a number of other potential partners.

“This is the first major partnership, we focused on Brisbane first."

"We are also in discussion with some big players in Sydney, some are already in a proof of concept stage."

Terry explained that Toowoomba regional council was already a Proficio customer in Queensland and that the partnership with Resolute came from that agreement.

“Resolute largely service the local government market, predominantly in Queensland and New South Wales, so there is a synergy there.”

Proficio has a large play in the US market across healthcare and financial services. In Australia, the company has current proof of concept agreements with a health community service provider, a cruise line and a financial services provider.

“In our relationship with Resolute, we are hoping they will focus on what they are good at which is the local government market,” Terry said.

“We will seek to find other resellers in market segments that have a footprint. Given we have already had a lot of success in the local government market, it makes sense for Resolute to handle that for us.”

“The Key thing it brings for us is that local government authorities can be challenging to deal with, particularly given we are a US vendor. The standard contract terms that exist in various states, the regulatory environment in which they have to operate.”

“It is easy for them to transact through resolute who are part of the local government association of Queensland. So it is a much easier path to market for us,” he said.
