Former TechnologyOne VP joins Netsuite

Lee Thompson takes APJ reins

Cloud-based ERP firm NetSuite has named Lee Thompson as senior vice president and general manager, Asia Pacific and Japan.

Thompson will be charged with heading up NetSuite’s sales operations and building a world-class sales organisation across the entire Asia Pacific and Japan region, taking NetSuite’s footprint and more than 1,000 employees in the region to another level, according to a company statement.

Thompson said he was extremely proud and excited to join NetSuite and to be a part of its continued growth in Asia Pacific and Japan.

“Only a handful of vendors today are true cloud companies, providing customers with multi-tenancy, a single version of the truth, multiple upgrades and all the benefits of a single application instance," he said.

"Customers today are embracing true cloud. NetSuite was born in the Cloud and it is a true cloud vendor, so joining the company was a natural choice for me.”

Before joining NetSuite, Thompson was Operating Officer at TechnologyOne.

Prior to TechnologyOne, he was senior vice president of corporate sales at Salesforce Asia Pacific, where he was responsible for delivering a regional compound annual growth rate in sales in excess of 30 per cent year-over-year during his tenure at the company.

Before that he spent 12 years at Oracle, building the vendor’s commercial sales business in Asia Pacific.

Prior to his tenure at Oracle he has held senior managerial positions at Borland, Artisoft and Pilot Software and has worked in the UK, Sweden, Australia, Canada and Singapore.

NetSuite president of worldwide sales and distribution, Marc Huffman, said Thompson's track record in achieving explosive sales growth within the region made him a perfect fit for NetSuite.

“Asia Pacific is a key revenue-generating engine for NetSuite and a region in which we plan to make ongoing significant investments," he said.

"Under Lee’s leadership, we expect to see strong growth across all of our three Asia Pacific business divisions – Asia, Australia/New Zealand and Japan.”

NetSuite has more than 24,000 customers around the world.
