The NSW government has opened a pilot digital store in North Sydney as part of strategy to help Australians consume more government services online.

Finance and services minister, Dominic Perrottet, has opened the store has opened to customers in North Sydney, as the Service NSW rollout continues across the state.

He said there were many different types of government transactions which coudl be done online and this new service would assist customers, as well as show them what they can do at a time and place convenient to them.

“We are delivering on a key commitment to make transacting with government easier as well as improving the digital experience,” he said.

“The new cashless North Sydney digital store gives customers greater choice in how they transact with government and is located on the lower level of the Greenwood Shopping Plaza."

Specialist staff will be on hand to help carry out a variety of online transactions such as applying for a Seniors Card, renewing a vehicle registration or ordering a National Parks annual pass.

Perrottet said service NSW would take the learnings of this pilot digital store as it prepared to roll out more over the coming year.

“The pilot shows how Service NSW is leading the way in bringing services to people rather than expecting customers to go out of their way to do business with government,” he said.

North Shore MP, Jillian Skinner, welcomed the pilot digital store as an excellent additional resource for the people of North Sydney and surrounding areas.

“The digital store will enable customers to carry out transactions on a variety of matters such as changing the details for an e-toll account, transferring a vehicle registration and even ordering tickets for exhibitions at the Art Gallery of NSW,” she said.

“The store is also open extended hours (7.30am-6pm weekdays, 9am-1pm Saturdays) to provide even greater convenience.”

She said the North Sydney digital store complemented other Service NSW initiatives such as LiveChat, the new Service NSW app and more self-serve kiosks in motor registries.

“Service NSW delivers more than 800 multi-government transactions such as driver licence applications, contractor licences, birth certificate applications and more.

Since launch in 2013, Service NSW has served more than seven million customers through the digital service, 24/7 phone service and 20 service centres across the State.
