DPSA expands into Singapore

Distributor spots a significant opportunity in the region hiring Louis Loy as its Singapore sales director

Sydney-based datacentre infrastructure distributor, DPSA, is expanding its business throughout the Asian region.

In 2013, the distributor branched out into Papua New Guinea and now has its sights set on Singapore.

DPSA said it would rely on its experience to begin operations in Asia along with the support of a handful of existing vendor partners.

DPSA CEO, Jacques Tesson, said he saw a significant opportunity for the distributor in Singapore and Asia. It will also be opening a new office in Malaysia before Christmas and will be establishing itself in Indonesia by January. It also has its sights set on Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.

“Our vendor partners have identified a gap in their distribution model in Singapore. They have recognised the need for a distributor with the detailed data centre infrastructure knowledge and ability to manage projects that DPSA is so well known for in Australia,” Tesson said.

“We exhibited at Data Center Dynamics Converged in Singapore last month and the response was huge. We have a healthy pipeline of projects already and I’m excited about the possibilities we’re seeing in that market.

"There's a massive amount of investors building up datacentre facilities in Singapore."

Tesson said it also plans to launch cloud services in Australia and the Asian region.

"We've already launched SpamTitan cloud solution in Australia, and we also plan to develop a SpamTitan service in Singapore for the Asian region," he said. "We're already seeing success with some of our projects in the Philippines, Malaysia, and of course Singapore. We're looking for a new vendor or partner in Australia and Asia especially in the cloud space.

To kick start its Singapore operation, DPSA has hired Louis Loy as its sales director in the country. Loy will be responsible for working closely with its vendor partners including APC by Schneider Electric, SendQuick, SpamTitan, TTK and Zellabox.

Tesson said he would continue to recruit locals to build up the Singapore office.

Back in Sydney, DPSA has hired Frank Yu as its new head of logistics.

“As a distribution company, this is a key role within the organisation. Even though DPSA is renowned for our project management abilities, ultimately we are in the business of distribution so the logistics function is at the heart of what we do and is absolutely critical to customer satisfaction and our success,” Tesson said.

“Frank brings a wealth of experience from his previous roles and I’m really pleased to have someone with his background and knowledge leading logistics for DPSA.”
