Cloud collaboration platform provider, Aconex, has deployed its new Dynamic Manuals product for mobile asset information management at the Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH).
The hospital's operations team uses the tablet-based, Windows 8-compatible solution to access and update its digital operation and maintenance (O&M) manuals on site.
RMH operations manager, James Robinson, said using Aconex has helped to consolidate and streamline year’s worth of construction drawings, documents and decisions into a digital knowledge database.
“We'll also be able to collect and update O&M information during future capital projects for seamless handover from construction to operation. The Aconex Handover suite is a game changer for us,” Robinson said.
“We're now able to locate facility information 80 per cent faster than we did before.”
Dynamic Manuals is the latest addition to the Aconex Handover suite, which also includes Digital Manuals and Smart Manuals for production and delivery of digital O&M manuals.
The RMH operations team manages maintenance assets worth about $260 million. Historically, all drawings and documents that comprise the RMH O&M manuals have been stored as hard copies and CDs. With Dynamic Manuals, all of the O&M data is stored digitally in the cloud for quick search and access.
All staff need to do to access the data is scan a barcode or QR code on a specific asset in the facility from their tablets.
Dynamic Manuals is integrated with the cloud-based Aconex platform, which has been deployed for collaborative project information and process management on prior construction projects at RMH as well as the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre (VCCC) Project.
