Telstra’s Cisco-based Cloud Collaboration to go global at the end of month

UC suite promises scalable collaboration on 'per worker' basis

Telstra’s Cloud Collaboration service is scheduled to go live globally at the end of August, with four nodes to provide access to 25 countries across the telecommunications provider’s network of more than 2500 points of presence (PoPs).

Cloud Collaboration is a Cloud-based unified communications (UC) suite which runs on Cisco’s HCS platform.

Initially launched in Australia last year, the suite provides customers with telephony, video, messaging, and web through the Cloud on a per month, ‘per worker’ subscription; Telstra’s capability scale is segmented into ‘essential’, ‘office’, ‘information’, and ‘mobile’ workers.

According to Telstra global enterprise and services director of marketing, portfolio and pricing, Nathan Bell, the solution promises to provide customers the ability to scale collaboration for IT spend predictability; customers can add incremental communication capacity rather than making a long-term capital expenditure (capex) commitment.

“With Telstra Cloud Collaboration, businesses can roll-out extensive collaboration and communications tools to staff throughout the world, scale user profiles and functionality up and down depending on business requirements and ensure employees working remotely have identical resources to those working in the office, all while minimising traditionally significant upfront investment models,” Bell said.

Bell claims that resellers can capitalise on the launch by utilising Cloud Collaboration as an augmented service within a larger consultation piece.

Bell also notes that Telstra has established end-to-end SLAs and will therefore manage any customer concerns itself.

Cloud Collaboration is delivered over Telstra’s Cloud infrastructure which spans seven locations throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia-Pacific.

The upcoming global launch is the latest in a series of Cloud partnerships between Telstra and Cisco.

In March, Cisco confirmed it would build a global Intercloud with the telco and other partners to tackle demand for a globally distributed, highly-secure Cloud platform.
