NBN Co will launch its fibre-to-the-basement service five months later later than expected.
The news comes with the release of an updated product roadmap on its website which provides details on releases as well as "key customer experience enhancements".
The fibre-to-the-basement launch, which runs fibre to a connection inside the building and then links to copper, will now launch in the first three months of 2015.
This is in contrast to Labor's original fibre-to-the-premise plan, which runs fibre all the way to each individual apartment.
NBN Co chief operating officer Greg Adcock previously gave a loose estimate of October 2014 for the launch, when he fronted a senate select committee earlier this year.
An NBN Co spokesman said the updated roadmap continued the company's progress in delivering the NBN faster and more affordably by using a variety of technologies.
"We are also continuing our FTTB pilot in inner-city Melbourne suburbs and are currently in the process of measuring and recording the customer experience of the homes and businesses who have signed-up," he said.
"Preliminary tests of the technology by NBN Co in December 2013 produced download speeds of more than 100 Mbps and upload speeds of more than 40 Mbps.
There was no further update on the estimated timing for our Fibre-to-the-Node (FTTN) or HFC products.
