Adobe has launched a new range of e-paper products aimed at the enterprise market and will look to Sydney-based Indigo Pacific to establish its presence in that sector.
The global software vendor is traditionally associated with retail and SOHO markets through graphic design and layout software products like Photoshop and Illustrator as well its PDF reader, Acrobat. But Jim Stephens, Adobe's senior vice president of worldwide sales and field operations, believes its new product range creates an opportunity for it to move into the enterprise market.
Indigo Pacific specialises in the distribution, implementation and support of products within the financial, government and manufacturing sectors. Its clients include ANZ Bank, Westpac, the New South Wales Police Force, the Australian Taxation Office and the Departments of Defence and Finance. It is already the sole distributor of Adobe Form Designer, Workflow Server and Central Pro Output Server across the Asia-Pacific region through a contract carried over from Adobe's acquisition of Canadian software and services provider Accelio earlier this year.
Indigo Pacific will now use its existing client base to push three new Adobe server-based products - Document Server, Document Server for Reader Extensions and Graphics Server - into document-intensive verticals within the enterprise market through a solutions provider agreement.
"Indigo only plays in the big end of town and our average customer has between 500 and 1,000 employees," said Hugh Millikin, president and CEO of Indigo Pacific.
"Adobe has historically played in smaller areas but wants to move into enterprise and sees us as an ideal partner to give it that leverage."
The Adobe Document Server allows PDF files to be customised singularly or in volume from a variety of data sources. The Document Server for Reader Extensions enables organisations to capture information by allowing customers to complete, save and submit electronic forms online. The Graphics Server allows images to be created and updated across a variety of media.
