Datacentre security a growing space in Australia: Imperva

Security vendor sees opportunities in securing content at datacentres

Comments

There is a growing need for datacentre security in Australia, according to Imperva Pacific regional sales director, Jason Burn.

“As more organisations move to Cloud solutions and store more data, whether it is structured or not, the need for security is going to grow,” he said.

"It is all about the data and keeping it protected."

Imperva is also seeing a potential in areas such as file security, which Burn said is one of the newer products in the vendor’s portfolio

“Not only is it a new product for us, it is also acts as differentiator in the marketplace,” he said.

“We’re protecting data in unstructured files, which is not a massive focus by other players in the security space.”

Partner eco-system

Imperva is entirely channel focused in Australia, and has been collaborating with partners such as MTech and Digital Networks Australia for several years.

More recently, Dimension Data has partnered with the security vendor.

“For an organisation like Dimension Data to pick us was important,” Burn said.

“They understand the messaging and the need, and they are starting to build that into their services engagements around data and datacentre security.”

Burn said he has already had several meetings with national and local level security people within Dimension Data since the company came on board.

“There was excitement around our growth and what our plans are for the channel,” he said.

In addition to continuing developing the partners Imperva has now, Burn said the security vendor will also expand in to other areas such as databases security services with new partners.
