TasmaNet, operator of one of Tasmania's privately-owned data communications infrastructure networks, has chosen Zellabox micro datacentres for its infrastructure-related managed services.
TasmaNet selected Zellabox’s solution as its customers were seeking access to the security, reliability and monitoring capabilities of its tier-2 datacentre facilities, but still needed to house IT infrastructure on their own premises.
“The Zellabox comes in different configurations, depending on the customer’s size and cooling requirements and is self-contained and secure. Because the internal infrastructure of the Zellabox micro datacentre is APC kit, we’re able to connect it up to the monitoring system of our major datacentre,” TasmaNet managing director, Joel Harris, said.
“The Zellabox then sits on their site to house, power and cool their IT equipment and is monitored centrally by our network operations team. Security and reliability are critical for our clients so for us the Zellabox represents the ideal solution for our infrastructure-focused managed services.”
TasmaNet claimed customer demand for managed infrastructure is strong in the Tasmanian market.
It expects to roll-out about 10 micro datacentres in the first six months of 2013 and three or four per quarter after that.
Zellabox is distributed by DPSA in Australia.
