Kaspersky brings support, marketing and production in-house

The work was previously outsourced to its distributor, SMS eTechnologies.

Security vendor, Kaspersky Lab is bringing its consumer technical support in-house.

It was previously outsourced to its distributor, SMS eTechnologies.

Recently appointed managing director, Andrew Mamonitis, said SMS also shared some consumer marketing and production of Kaspersky, which is being brought in house.

“It’s going to be a seamless transition, and as of July 1 they’ll be managed under the Kaspersky roof,” he said. “We’ll have greater visibility and control of support, and we can start to be a bit more innovative in what we offer.”

It has brought across a major of SMS staff that were previously looking after Kaspersky’s support.

SMS will remain as a master distributor of Kaspersky’s consumer products. Other distributors includeitX and WhiteGold Solutions.

Mamonitis who was previously the country manager, had a slight shift in his role, which was in line with the company’s global restructuring.

“The restructuring came on the back of some new investors and combined the consumer and corporate teams, removing the silos that were previously there,” Mamonitis said. “The whole APAC area during the process remained untouched and they still see us as an emerging market in terms of how long we’ve been here.”

The security vendor also recently hired a new business development manager to focus on the northern region. Michael Pride will be based out of Sydney. He has previously worked for McAfee.
