Power Parameters switches UPS horses

Melbourne-based Power Parameters has signed up as a distributor for UPS vendor, Socomec, after parting company with General Electric (GE).

GE acquired IMV at the end of last year. IMV had been Power Parameters' primary UPS vendor.

It had since become clear that GE intended to distribute the product itself, Power Parameters managing director, Bob Harris, said.

"We sought an alternative brand in the same league and we found one that offered a broader product range," he said.

The timing was right for both companies, according to Harris, because Socomec was in the process of terminating its distribution agreement with industrial manufacturer, Eaton.

Socomec offers a complete range of UPS devices from 300VA, which caters for the small office environment, to 600kVA for larger organisations.

"The depth of the range was one important factor and we think we have a technological edge on the brand that we had previously," Harris said.
